Camp 4 – San Diego (10 days)

The bay at our campground in San Diego

We stayed at Campland on the Bay, the campground nearest to SeaWorld that also has a beach. We didn’t have any close neighbors, which was nice, but it was still pretty noisy there. The bay was really fun for the kids, they could play there for hours. It was better for us than the ocean because there were no big waves that could sweep them away!

We didn’t really see much of the “real” San Diego, because we spent all our time doing touristy things (and it was awesome). SeaWorld was awesome – Henry was so awestruck. He kept saying “Look at that Mom!” as the whales jumped and splashed. We also got to meet Elmo and Zoe there, one-on-one, no crowds!

The San Diego Zoo was really fun too. The kids liked the flamingos, the playground, and the petting zoo the best. Addie was a little “miniature goat whisperer” at the petting zoo. They loved her!

I think Henry’s favorite was probably our day at Legoland. We went on some fun rides, but mostly he liked the HUGE playground area that was made specifically for kids his age.

Camp 5 – Anaheim (4 days)

We met my sister and her boyfriend at an RV resort in Anaheim specifically for Disney visitors. We stayed there for 4 days, and all we had time to do was Disney, Disney, Disney, and a tiny amount of sleeping. The kids liked Disney, but honestly they liked the bus ride there just as much, so I don’t know!

Camp 6 – Malibu (18 Days)

I thought we would get to rest and take it easy in Malibu, but it turned out to be pretty busy! My sister stayed with us 5 extra days, so we enjoyed an extra week of playing games, visiting the beach, and seeing movies with her and her boyfriend. Then Josh’s mom and sister flew in, and we all met up at Josh’s aunt’s house in Encino, CA (its about 40 minutes from Malibu). We spent Christmas there as well, and then a couple days later Josh and I got to have a date night (woo!) while the kids had a sleepover with their Grandma. After that we switched, and Grandma had a sleepover at our camper with us! The kids loved that.
