Our Goals

18 for ’18

I admit that I stole this idea from the blog Jojoebi, an expat blogger living in Tokyo. It is such a cool idea, that I had to do it myself.

Anyway, the idea is simple – 18 family goals for 2018. Some can be big, some can be tiny – it doesn’t really matter. Just fun things to do with family!

1) Have a family campout once/month (sleeping in the living room, watching movies, eating snacks, and snuggles!)

2. Each of us sponsors a kid from another country (through something like World Vision)

3. Go to Germany and see the big storybook castle (neuschwanstein castle)

4. Go on a Disney cruise through the Panama canal

5. Teach the kids how to roller-skate

6. Teach the kids how to swim

7. Have a 1-on-1 date each month – Josh and I will have to work out some kind of rotation to have even 1-on-1 time with 2 parents vs 3 kids!

8. Go see a family film all together at the movie theater (believe it or not this is something that is rare for us to do!)

9. Go on a trip with extended family

10. Get a small pet (I’m thinking like a hamster or fish, or a hermit crab)

11. Read Harry Potter 1 the illustrated version

12. Do daily journal (these are daily questions for the kids to answer. So far, they are loving it.)

13. Go dog sledding/play in the snow

14. Learn violin – Currently getting the kids a violin teacher, since they’ve been picking up their violins a few times per week and squeaking away

15. Go see a play/musical – I don’t know that we can top Frozen the Musical, but we can see something that is decent I guess 🙂

16. Learn more hair styles – I am slowly becoming a hairstyle master!

17. Do themed days again. We did this for a few months, but then the holiday season came, and we all got tired and had lots of other plans, and our themes went out the window. Our themes are: Make Something Monday, Take a Trip Tuesday, Whimsical Wednesday, Thinking Thursday, and FUN Friday.

18. Get more outdoor time!! I like private school and all, but their emphasis on creating an outstanding learning environment means less time outside to just run around, be crazy, get muddy, and be a kid. Their recess is only 15 minutes!!! I really think kids should be outside as much as possible – like 2 hours per day minimum! We definitely don’t spend that much time outdoors, especially not on school days.

Thats all! 18 family goals for the Race Family, 2018!
