Lately, we have decided that we are tired. We are taking a rest here in Mountain Home, Akansas, RV parked in my parents backyard. We were considering staying here for the rest of the summer.  We even got Henry and Addie enrolled at a Montessori school here, part-time, so that we could rest. But then something happened that triggered a new chain of events…

…the teachers at the school kept gushing about how “ahead” our kids are. Now in the past, I’ve been flattered by this (not gonna lie). But this time, I was annoyed. So I started thinking, shouldn’t the kids go to a school where they’re aren’t so “ahead”? I thought about this for a while and tried to figure out how I could find a high concentration of kids who would be “ahead.”

So I googled “preschool for gifted children.”

It turns out that there are not very many preschools in the US that call themselves “gifted preschool.” But guess what school was the #1 result in Google? Ricks Center for Gifted Children – in Denver! I thought that seemed pretty weird, that of the small handful of gifted preschools in the country, one of them happened to be right in the same spot where we started this whole journey.

Being spontaneous as we are, we decided to see if there was a spot in the school for Henry, and if he would “qualify” to get in (you gotta take some tests and an interview). We decided that if he got in, we would take it as a sign and move back to Denver. If he didn’t, or there wasn’t a spot open in the school for him, we would keep doing what we were doing.

As it turned out, there was a spot for him!

So, without really knowing much about it at all, we packed up and headed back to Denver to try out something new. Because hey – the kid needs to try out preschool, right?
