cs1In continuing preparation for our upcoming travels Carl left our family today. Given Carl’s age and eventual size it just wasn’t feasible for us to take him with us, so we decided to put him up for adoption. A nice family in Aurora came to meet him yesterday, and this morning they returned to officially adopt him. The family includes four children from the early teens down to 4 years old, so Carl will have no shortage of playmates. Their backyard is also substantially larger than ours which is great. Brittany and I are very optimistic about Carl’s new family.

Henry gave Carl a hug on his way out, and watched the family load him into the car. Sam came outside and jumped in the back seat with Carl ready to go wherever his little buddy was headed as well. The family offered to take Sam as well (only half joking) before I pulled Sam out and they left.

cs2Carl was 8 weeks old when we adopted him near the end of July. In the two months that we had him he formed a strong bond with our other dog Sam and learned the ropes of how to be a family dog. Sam will be accompanying us on the road. He’s very mellow and exceptionally well behaved and I’m sure will find traveling to his liking.

It was difficult to see our little Collie go, but I think the blow was softened by the very short time we’d spent with him thus far. The kids seem unperturbed, and Sam actually seems to be enjoying a much needed rest.
